event
After
more than a year and a half of quarantine, online
awards and very few celebrity appearances cruising
the long-awaited red carpets, the MTV Video
Music Awards is back.
In
2020, the awards were transmitted in a hybrid way
to adhere to the pandemic protocols and on this
September 12th, fans will be able to follow the
live format of the program in its original format.
One of the biggest awards in American music was
created in 1984 by MTV, in order to celebrate the
best music videos of the year.
The
event was held at Barclays Center, in New
York City, USA. This is the second time the arena
will host the awards, the first being at the 2013
ceremony.
Anitta
on the Red Carpet
Anitta
walked the red carpet of the world's largest video
clip awards, the VMA 2021, by MTV North America,
on Sunday night, September 12th, and became the
first Brazilian to perform on the awards stage.
Anitta
chose a look made exclusively for her and signed
by South Korean designer Miss Sohee. The
sandal is by the Brazilian brand Alexandre Birman.
The singer got ready for the VMA at Fasano's new
hotel, located on Fifth Avenue.
Madonna
Participation
MMadonna
surprised the audience by opening the event with a
promotional video and appearing on stage. “And
they said we wouldn't last,” said the pop
diva before welcoming the crowd.
Right
after Madonna, Justin Bieber broke a 6-year fast
without performing at the VMA. For the occasion,
he chose the song Stay, which is feat of The Kid
LAROI. The hit is in second place on the American
chart. Then Olivia Rodrigo performed Good 4 U and,
upon leaving, had to return to the stage to
receive the Music of the Year award.
Justin
Bieber Participation
Justin
Bieber, the most nominated name of the night,
competed in 7 categories. Rapper Megan Thee Stallion
was named the most nominated female artist with 6
nominations. Billie Eilish, BTS, Doja Cat, Drake,
Giveon, Lil Nas X and Olivia Rodrigo completed the
ranking of most nominees, with 5 each.
